Holiday!

Been on holiday.  Had a brilliant time and really enjoyed myself.  What a selfish cow! No, Kerry and I had the best of times and thoroughly relaxed and chilled out.  There was no need to do much and the main sightseeing was to different beaches for different types of waves.  So opposite from at home where everything is rush, rush.  This was gorgeously laid back to the extreme.

Flew into Malaga and stayed with Ian on the Saturday evening, then after not much sleep, drove about 6 hours via some very good roads to Portugal and stayed in Max and Jayne's van, vehiculo rongo, Sunday evening.  Had a lovely evening out in the woods with them and Adam, but Monday morning came along and Kerry and I decided that we needed an appartment pretty pronto, with all mod cons, one of them being a loo on site!  Ad had told us about Tonel Apartamentos Turisticos, so we went along, with Max on Monday morning to sort out a room.  Brilliantly, they were 21.50 per night, which was very reasonable, considering that we generally had 6 people living there throughout the week. Afterwards, Max took us to the West Coast, to Cordorama.  Such high cliffs! such wind! such waves! It was immense.  We then went to Lidl and bought some provisions, while Max "did" the bins.  Bless, he managed to get heaps of potatoes, peppers, and pineapples, so we ate those throughout the week.  We got the basics, but lived generally on stuff they'd got from food bins.  All of it was brilliantly edible, just out of the sell by date.

Monday evening was just Max and Jayne as Adam was having dinner with Roger.  I managed to get myself into a migraine state as I'd not had any caffeine throughout the day and so had to go to bed at about 12, but was very happy to be where we were.

Tuesday saw us with Jayne, who'd had a bath and scrubbed herself clean.  She took us to the end of the world's Cape St Vincent, where we marvelled at the views, cliffs, swell etc.  We looked at some trinkets and decided to come back to them later on in the week.  We went down to Mareta beach, where Adam was surfing.  Max was there too and we offered to do dinner in the evening as we had peppers, pasta and that sort of thing.  We went to the port with Jayne and sat in a small cafe having toasted sandwiches and beer. brilliant.  She doesn't seem very happy with Max at the moment, and to be quite honest, he is very badly behaved with her.  I think she leans on Adam for moral support too...
They all came over for dinner and drinks and a good time was had by all.  I managed to get slightly squiffy, but in a good way and was left for quite a lot of time towards the end of the evening with Adam, playing music and generally yarning about anything and everything.  It was really nice to be able to talk to him normally, without having eyes boring into the back of my head. I may have kissed him, but I ended up in my bed (on my own) and he had the couch.
Wednesday was rainy, so we decided to spend the day doing some henna tatoos (as Jayne is a henna artist). Roger came over and we had lots of eggs, bacon and rolls for brekkie.  He brought his laptop so we were able to watch films on it.  It was lashing down with rain, and again I had lots of time to chat to Adam.  It was a proper pyjama day, very easy going.  Jayne brought lots of food round too, so we had roasted vegetables and a lovely onion gravy.  Max didn't think I knew how to make roast potatoes! I didn't bother trying to prove it though as Jayne was the head chef that day. Another late night, in fact I can't remember going to bed at all. hmmm. I'm sure I did though.
Thursday was lovely and sunny and I got up to find Adam had washed himself and his clothes and tidied up the appartment main living area.  What a sweetie.  The guys were going to get the kayaks and meet us down at Martinhal beach, so we scooped Adam up and went shopping for the trinkets and some tshirts and then went off road to Martinhal.  The sun was lovely and hot and I managed to catch a few rays.  Kerry went for 2 swims which was very brave as everyone said that she'd need a wetsuit, but she didn't - what a girl! The guys kayaked around and then we went home as Roger had said that he was meeting Martin in the local eating place and we should all come too.
We did all go.  Now, as it was Thursday, I knew that we had to get going on Friday, so I was very restrained and was Des, the driver.  The food was lovely, all home made and very good.  The wine and beer was definitely flowing and I think having Martin there added another dimension to the 5.... I didn't think it at the time, but maybe Kerry was a bit left out what with me and Adam being as thick as theives.  I feel bad about that if she did.  Anyway, the evening went swimmingly and everyone was completely plastered and came back to ours.  By then I was pretty tired, had a glass of pink stuff but felt that the rest of the evening should be left for the others.  Adam was slaughtered and Martin I think may have been too.  Ad kept turning up the music (and it was slipknot!) so I didn't sleep much during the evening.  Went in at 6ish to find him on his own, again listening to the music so loudly.  Asked him to turn it down/off and I think it did go down.  It was still playing though, so at 6.30ish.  I went in, turned it off, walked him to the couch and put him to bed.  In my dreams that was my wildest fantasy to get him into bed, but not this way.  Never mind.
Max had conked out in the van, and Jayne, Kerry and Martin had gone to martin's.  If extreme amounts of alcohol hadn't been consumed, I could have had a bit more fun but it wasn't to be.
Friday morning was spent locating Jayne and Kerry and tidying up the appartment in readiness for moving out.  Everyone was so hungover.  I had to say goodbye to Adam and he was in a pretty rough state, but I was sad and told him that I was going to miss him.  I may have kissed him again, but I don't think it will have made much of an impression.
I had a lovely time and Kerry was the best travelling partner.  It was all so easy...
And so back home.  I've been grilled, but my conscience is clear and to be honest, I'm happy with that.
I'll be going back in November though.....
