Spent the weekend racing around, generally buying clothes for the girls and making sure that Sian had clothes to wear to her NEW JOB! She's doing an apprenticeship at a nursery in Lower Parkstone and it was her first day today. She's texted me and said that she's having a lovely day and she was just having lunch. She also said that she would be finishing at 4.30 today, so she was very happy about that!

The clocks went back on Saturday night didn't they? I'm all at sixes and sevens at the moment and it will take me at least a week to readjust, but there you go. I've got a list as long as my arm of things to do with our bedroom, but trying to get to it is nigh on impossible. Never mind, I'll do a bit at a time I think. Anna's room is next, which basically means a whole day of sorting out and tidying :-( Can't wait. Anyway, it's Pat's birthday on Thursday (45!) hopefully it should go smoothly, as we're going to see EODM at the Opera House in the evening. I'll be fast asleep at that time of night!

Cosy

It's so quiet in the office at the moment that I'm managing to get through my backlog, so I've almost got nothing to do! Amazing! That leaves me plenty of time to read my Neil Gaiman http://tinyurl.com/2k9lk3 and Warren Ellis blogs http://tinyurl.com/yk35rdj , which are so interesting and have so many links I end up miles away from where I started. It's like a new parallel life, nothing to do with my existing "if, then, and" existance. It's art and lots of the time, it's also internet and openings which I wouldn't ever get into without them. Fabulous.

Last night, it was so quiet, I left the office at 4.30 and we had a brilliant wild mushroom risotto, along with lashings of wine and the girls were there, along with Tony, the current Mr Sian. It was so lovely, really "family" and was gorgeously cosy, I just had to tell you.

Anyway, Pat's started the painting in our room in readiness for the new curtains and we've had the table delivered, which is lovely. I'll post piccys soon. It's all very exciting...

He's gone

Back to Portugal for the winter. I don't blame him really and at some point I will go and visit. Blah blah blah, just like last year and the year before. I'm pleased he's going and hope he has a lovely time. I know he's looking forward to the peace and quiet and solitude, so I'm glad really. he's going home.

Aged Ps

Well, finally got down to see Pat's parents this weekend just gone. Drove down after the optician for Anna and considering we left at 11.30, we got to Mullion at 3.30 so pretty good time. Did do some extreme speed though. It was lovely though, it's against the law to drive slowly in the sun..
Went to the pub with them in the evening and sat and chatted round the table. It was lovely to see them. Pat did some extreme pruning on Sunday of their pear tree and managed to cut his hand on his new sharp saw, but he finished the job before stitching it up. What a guy! Sunday saw us pottering around (me and Anna) and helping out with a roasty. Poor Anna got a boiled Caterpillar in her broccoli, which I suppose is the danger of eating local, non homogenised and non packaged-to-an-inch-of-it's-life food. She dealt with it very well considering. Poor thing. Forgot my ankle brace so didn't go riding, but I will, oh yes, sometime.
Back yesterday afternoon at 4.00 and Sian had really missed us, so we spent ages in the back room chatting with her and Tony (gasp!) which was very nice. In bed by 9.30, slept right through till 6.00. Lovely weekend.

The two chaps named Chris

Where is the time going?

So, we're already in October and I've started buying Xmas pressies already. Got my mum a great book reading tool called the "book seat". it's a booky sag bag! She's just read the latest Penny Vincenti tome and she said that it was so big that it made her arms, neck and hands ache. Not good! this little thing is really simple and very clever, just how it should be.

After visiting the Urban Reef a couple of weeks ago, I've bought a table and 6 chairs which I saw there. Managed to get a good deal too... Really excited as it's coming next week, so Pat's got to paint the front room so that it looks all lovely. I've also ordered some sage coloured curtains so I think I'm going all retro and 50's. I'll post piccy's when it's all done.

We're off to see Pat's parents this weekend after not going down last weekend due to colds and coughs. It's better because Anna has a TT day on Monday and I've booked my stress day for then, so we'll go down Saturday morning and come back Monday aftie. May be able to get a bit of horse riding in too at some point.
