Weekend

Why oh why do weekends go so quickly? So quickly, that I can't remember one end from the other.

Ah, Friday we had a very lovely Chinese takeaway.  Sian was babysitting for the Howards, so she had hers and drove round in her little car, which I drove back.

Saturday was a bit of a rush but was our own fault.  Shaun was coming round at 11 to pick up some books, have a coffee and chat, along with a look at the fish, so we pottered around until then and then it was midday and we had to rush to B&Q to order some bricks, but we have to do that over the phone, so that's been put off.  We've still got the blocks, sand and cement though.  Came back and ended up taking Anna to trampolining, leaving her there and taking the papers (which I should have dropped off earlier) to mums.  Anna was worried when I got back and was a bit teary because I hadn't texted or phoned her.  No, because I was driving I said.  Then I said "you need to be worried when I'm not here at 3.00 to pick you up rather than in the middle of the lesson". Bless.

Had dinner round at Chris and Tracy's.  Pat did the starter of large prawns (shell on) on watercress with garlic butter sauce and they were bloody brilliant.  Chris did spice encrusted halibut, with a lovely risotto and tracy did a very alcoholly trifle.  It was bloody lovely all of it.  It made spending £250 on food last week rather galling to be honest, but there you go.

Pat went fishing with Dean on Sunday and I lay in and read my book.  It was a very relaxing day and Anna and I put together the roasty with no tears at all. Pat finished it off though!

No Cold - Hurrah!

Well, back at work this week after a week at home (working, you understand) and I feel so much better! I can't begin to describe it.  Everyone has had it though after me and Pat, so I feel for them.
We've had a brotherly worry week too as both Mick and Ben have stomped out of their respective houses. It's been very difficult to sort them out and I think Ben's will take some time, but Mick's back on the straight and narrow, so that's something.
I don't think there's anything else to report actually.  How strange!  It's been very quiet today so I've been on the twitter and falsebook a lot, but I'm up to date with everything, so what can you do? Anyway, I've arranged to see Mrs H on Sunday, so hopefully the March weather will be kind to us as I want to cycle round.  Patsy's going fishing and I may need a bit of girly company.

My Birthday 2010

Having been horribly ill with a cold all of the previous week, it was a relief to feel slightly normal on the Sunday 21st, although still a very strange temperature.  Patsy was also having difficulties with it too.  He seems to have had one thing after the other this winter.  We still managed to get to bed by 9.30 most evenings over this long weekend though, which is a bit sad really isn't it?

Friday evening was spent with Mrs H at splinters restaurant, although Mr H couldn't make it as Ollie was in hospital with a horrific chest infection, although he was released on Saturday.  So, she came with us and he stayed at the hospital.  We were all slightly subdued as a result of this and should have really just rebooked it for a month or so's time, but hey, we had a pretty good meal and managed to drink a couple of bottles of vino.  Saturday, we spent the day in front of the rugby, apart from popping the papers round to mum's and going to the hospital to pick up Mr H and the very quiet Ollie, oh, and picking up Anna from Grace's birthday sleep over and bowling.  So, actually, I was quite busy really. Apart from that, I lay on the sofa feeling like a pile of poo.  I'd had this cold all week from the Tuesday and had not been into work as a result.

Well, we managed to rally for the Sunday and had lunch at the Urban Reef on Boscombe Prom.  They had a surf competition, so loads of people were down there and it felt really vibrant and well, surfy... We had a Sunday roast, which was lovely and another bottle of vino.  Popped into see the Howards on the way back and had a slurp with them, then walked home.  Major mistake.  I can't walk home from there!  Maybe it was optimistic, maybe just stupid, but by the time I got back to ours, I was totally annihilated and had to lie down again on the sofa.  Never mind.  It was a lovely day all round and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

New Car

I've bought a car for Sian!  It's only a little Peaugot 106, but it's very sweet.  Silver, with red and black seats, no rust that I could see, no dodgy noises coming from the gears and brakes.  Looks good.  We're picking it up tonight and I expect I will be taking photos of the proud girl later.

She's not passed her test, but hopefully this will be an incentive to get on and do it.  she does need the practice though and it will be good to see how she's progressed as she's had heaps of lessons.  I need to book her theory, but I'm sure that can be done within the month.  She's going round the house saying "beep, beep" like the road runner!

Old girls

Went up to Helen's on Saturday evening and took Jane.  She lives in Somerset, so we had a lovely drive there and found her house quite easily, using her instructions for the last bit as it's in the middle of nowhere.  Alicia came soon after and we got down to some serious eating and drinking around the kitchen table.  It was lovely just to sit and chill (not that I've had lots of that this month) and just chat to the girls.  I can't remember the last time we got together, but I think it may have been in the summer, so it's been a while.  It was like we'd seen each other last week, not a lot of catching up, but a lot of general chatting, opinions and politics, just what we've always been like.
4 bottles of wine were drunk and a bottle of champagne.  I had a bit of a thick head in the morning, but got myself a cup of tea, took it back to bed and read Hello! for an hour before everyone got up.  We then had brekkie, lots more chatting and then headed home for lovely roasty and Being Human later.
